Terms of use

ReliArchive is a public record of how cameras, lenses and related equipment hold up over time. It combines documented manufacturer notices with reports submitted by the people who own the equipment. By visiting the site, creating an account or submitting anything to it, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.

These terms exist to keep the archive trustworthy for everyone who relies on it. Most of them come down to two ideas: be honest in what you submit, and understand what the numbers can and cannot tell you.

You need an account to submit ownership reports, request products and keep a collection. When you create one, the information you provide must be accurate, and the account must be yours. You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for everything done through your account.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. One person should hold one account. Accounts created to inflate votes, submit duplicate reports or impersonate someone else will be removed.

When you submit an ownership report, a product request or any other content, you keep ownership of it. You grant ReliArchive a worldwide, royalty free, perpetual licence to store, moderate, publish, aggregate and display that content as part of the archive. This licence is what allows a report to become part of a published reliability score and to remain in the record over time.

Every submission must describe your own genuine experience. Do not submit reports about equipment you have not owned or used, do not exaggerate or invent problems, and do not submit reports on behalf of a manufacturer, retailer or competitor. A single fabricated report damages the record for everyone.

Reports are reviewed by a person before they count toward any published figure. We may decline, edit for clarity, anonymise or remove any submission, and we may recompute published figures when reports are found to be unreliable.

You agree not to misuse the service. In particular, you agree not to:

• Submit false, misleading or paid for content of any kind.
• Attempt to manipulate reliability scores, request votes or any other published figure.
• Harvest or scrape the site in ways that degrade it for others, or republish substantial parts of the archive without permission.
• Probe, disable or interfere with the security or operation of the service.
• Use the service to harass anyone or to violate any applicable law.

Reliability scores, failure rates and every other derived figure describe what owners have reported to this archive. They are not manufacturer failure statistics, laboratory results or guarantees about any individual unit. Self reported data carries known biases, which are described openly on the methodology page.

The archive is information, not advice. Purchase decisions, repair decisions and business decisions remain yours. Where a figure rests on a small sample, the sample size is published next to it, and where the evidence is too thin to support a conclusion, no score is shown at all.

Service advisories, recalls and firmware notes summarise documents published by manufacturers, and every summary links to its original source. Always confirm eligibility and current programme status with the manufacturer before arranging service, because programmes end and terms change.

Product names, brand names and logos belong to their respective owners. ReliArchive is independent and is not endorsed by, affiliated with or sponsored by any manufacturer covered in the archive.

Product pages may include links to retailers, and some of those links are affiliate links, which means the archive may earn a commission if you buy through them. Affiliate relationships never influence reliability figures, report moderation or which problems get documented. Prices and availability shown on the site are indicative and can be out of date; the retailer's own page is authoritative.

The archive is provided as it is, and we work to keep it accurate and available. We may add, change or remove features, and we may suspend the service for maintenance. Because raw reports are the source of truth, published figures can change when the methodology improves or when new reports arrive; this is by design, not an error.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ReliArchive will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the service or from reliance on any figure published in it. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and we may remove content that does. You can stop using the service at any time and may request deletion of your account. Reports that have already entered the published record may be retained in anonymised form, because removing the underlying data would silently change figures that other people rely on.

We may update these terms as the service evolves. When we make a material change we will update the date at the top of this page, and where the change significantly affects account holders we will make the change visible on the site. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
