Overview

The D750 was among the most popular full-frame DSLRs Nikon made, and it is also one of the best-documented reliability cases in the industry. Nikon issued a service advisory for flare occurring when a bright light source sat along the top edge of the frame, and a second, repeatedly extended advisory for a shutter fault that shaded part of the image.

Both were repaired free of charge regardless of warranty status. For anyone buying one used today, the serial number and whether the advisory work was carried out matter more than shutter count.

Nikon replaces the shutter free of charge, even outside warranty, on D750 bodies manufactured between July 2014 and September 2016 after the shutter was found not to function normally, shading part of the image.
